"…Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you…" (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Half asleep, I had a thought early in the morning last week. "Don't believe the lie that you're alone in your struggle." I didn't feel like this was necessarily for me, so I shared it. I also figured that it couldn't hurt to share with my readers too.
Over the years, I've been shocked when I realize that so many of us battle the same things. Years ago, I heard a woman say that she fought constantly with a feeling of not being enough- smart enough, pretty enough, loved enough. I honestly thought I was the only one at that time and when she shared that, it was comforting to know that I wasn't the only one who battled that feeling. And that's just one example from so many I could share.
I can't tell you how many people I've personally talked to that seem just as normal as anyone else that also struggle with addictions of every kind, anxieties that seem obsessive and crazy, or struggle finding their identity and purpose. Part of the problem with our problems is that we think we're the only ones. That secret places enormous amounts of pressure on us and can cause so many other issues in our lives. This fear that keeps us in secrets is actually a manipulative ploy of Satan to keep us bound. I'm not saying you should go airing your issues out to the public, but I want to deflate the Devil's scheme.
Let's just establish a couple things ok?
#1- Everyone battles something deeply.
#2- You're never alone, God is always with you.
Take a beat. Relax. You're not as strange as you think you are (and I mean that in a good way).
"…for the Lord your God goes with you to fight on your behalf against your enemies to give you victory.”
(Deuteronomy 20:4)
