"Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." (1 Peter 5:7)
Lately I've being reminded to revisit the basics and just apply them everywhere. For example, prayer. It's one of the most simple, fundamental parts of Christianity. Yet, honestly, there will be seasons where I feel like the prayer part of my relationship with God is lacking.
I mean, yes, I pray. But as of late, I'm being reminded to pray not just about the common things, but also to pray about things that I wouldn't necessarily think I would find God in the midst of or remember to take the time to pray for. What I am seeing is that God cares so much about things that concern me and it has been refreshing.
Just as an example, I've been going back and forth with the publisher over the design cover of my book. It has taken several tries which has delayed the process of moving things along. It got to the point where I was getting stressed about a process that I didn't feel should have been that hard. I've prayed about the book, but not this specific problem. My mind was searching for solutions- do I get an outside graphic designer? Should I settle for one they already showed me? Finally, I resigned to prayer (not sure why it took me so long to get to that point, but it did).
About two weeks later, I finally got an email with the new updated design. I was nervous to look at it. I didn't know what I was going to do if it wasn't good. Reluctant, I opened the attachment and saw the design. Immediately, I loved it. I didn't have to think twice. Right after seeing how much I loved it, I knew God answered my prayer. I'm so grateful, even as I type this and that is just one example of several I've seen over the last couple of months.
Yes, God is magnanimous and bigger than we could ever understand. Yet as backwards as this sounds, he is so grand that he can be found in the smallest of things. But I think that because he is love, that's how he'd prefer it.
I say all this to pass along the reminder I've been getting lately- pray about the small things. Pray about the stuff you don't think twice about bugging God about. Even in the busy moments and you just have time for small, quick passing prayers, that's fine. God cares more than we think and we'd see that if you invite him into those spaces.
"Look at the birds! They don’t worry about what to eat—they don’t need to sow or reap or store up food—for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are."
(Matthew 6:26)
