“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Recently I'd went on vacation with my family to see other family members. One lived in Colorado while the others where in Montana. We opted to drive because we had our dog and we were going to have to need a vehicle anyways. Needless to say, it was not for the faint of heart.

We decided to rent a SUV for this voyage. It was 3 adults, 1 teenager, and a dog in tow. Packed in snuggly to a Dodge Durango with all our bags/snacks, we left on our 9-day road trip.

After 12 hours, we arrived in Colorado to have dinner with my cousin that evening and then head out to Montana the following morning. My dad drove that leg of the trip and made mention about not liking how the brakes felt on the vehicle (not to mention the oil light came on too). I drove that evening and noticed it too, but we were exhausted from being up around 2 am and having too little sleep to think about it any further.

The following morning while packing up, the idea to swap out rentals came to mind. There were several locations for that rental company near us and we thought it would be wise to try and get a better, possibly safer vehicle for the rest of the trip. After all, we were going to be heading to Glacier National Park also.

Long story short, we wasted 2.5 hours that day going to 2 different locations without swapping the rental. Frustrated as we were, we decided to head to Montana. We needed to get there before dark and we still had 10 hours to drive that day.

Besides adding oil, we hadn’t had any other issues so far. However, the day we left to spend 2 days in Glacier National Park, we had a low tire pressure sensor go off. So, we aired up, even more nervous about the vehicle we were driving and left. It didn't look low, but all we kept doing was saying a prayer in the car and continuing on (we prayed before we left our driveway).

The entire trip was almost 4,000 miles. Nervous as we were, we just kept praying and moving on with our vacation. We made it home safely when we found a flat tire on the car the following day. Let me say this again, we got a flat tire AFTER WE GOT HOME SAFELY.

I laughed. I knew it was God. At any time driving all over the 8 states on vacation, something could have happened. In the mountains, at high speeds on the highway, or being stranded in the middle of nowhere (which we saw a lot of), something could have gone wrong. But it didn't. Not until after we got home. We had an incredible and safe vacation.

God still answers prayers. He's still looking out for his kids. As much as we know it, it's still incredible to see.

Listen to me! You can pray for anything, and if you believe, you have it; it’s yours!”

(Mark 11:24)
