“I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace.” (Psalm 34:1)
The last few months has brought me to several situations where frustration and stress have gotten the best of me. From juggling more projects that I’m used to, to having to learn tools that are above my understanding, I got to a point where I felt I was in over my head to be honest. It was never the intention, but it unfortunately unfolded that way.
I was still sticking to my healthy disciplines. None of the healthy and holy things were lacking, but the stress still came to a head. The matters where bigger than myself and well out of my control. I had prayed all that I could. I had prepared for every circumstance that was before me as best as possible.
One morning in prayer, I got to a point of realization- whatever happens is going to happen. Regardless of the results, I will praise God for them. I made a decision to worship God no matter what would happen, and peace of mind immediately came.
Truth be told, I wish I would have come to that conclusion earlier, but hindsight is always 20/20. The mindset didn’t change any outcome of my situations. In fact, I ended up getting sick this week (nothing terrible, but if you know me, I hate being under the weather). However, the impact was on that of my attitude, sick or not.
Endurance and perseverance seem to be so much easier when the focus is on Jesus. We may not be able to change our situations around us, but we can change the situations in us. The joy of the Lord really is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
Is there something before you that seems to be too much to handle? Are there any surmounting issues that leave you hopeless? Could you possibly find a way to praise God in the situation? This week, I pray an abundance of joy over each of y’all no matter what happens.
“No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:18)
