“For we are God’s masterpiece..." (Ephesians 2:10)
I'm out of town this weekend and had to take a long Uber drive. After seeing how long the commute was, I knew it could go one of two ways, super awkward or completely entertaining depending on my driver (those who have Ubered before understand this). Well, I'll just say my experience was great.
With an hour drive, the conversation never stopped and got pretty deep. My driver was a lively and hilarious woman in her forties that had a 19 year old daughter. She had spunk and grit to her that was quite entertaining and completely refreshing. And let me tell you, once she got going about that daughter of hers, she could barely stop. It was absolutely beautiful.
She went on and on about her daughter to the point that I wanted to meet her. She painted such a wonderful picture of a person that I would have been delighted to meet her in person. The best part was when she told me she was sending her off to college, she yelled at her telling her to, "Have fun baby, and don't jack up my masterpiece!"
I started cracking up, but that moment was inspiring. I couldn't help but think of God and how he feels about us. The reminder was deeply needed.
You can’t convince me that God doesn't adore someone that he sent his son to die for. And whether you’ve been in this walk with God for 1 day or 40 years, his love and delight over us never dims and never dies out. I will loosely quote John Maxwell when he said "If God had your picture, it would be on his fridge."
I wish y’all could have heard that women hype up her daughter. She knew she wasn’t perfect, but she could see beyond all the flaws as she watched her daughter overcome hardship after hardship. She knew that their lives had given them every reason to drown in failure, but they were determined to rise above it all.
Be hyped up this week (and always if possible). You are the delight of the Creator of the universe. Go have fun, and don’t jack up his masterpiece…because you actually really are just that.
"We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love and because we believe him when he tells us that he loves us dearly. God is love, and anyone who lives in love is living with God and God is living in him.."
(1 John 4:16)
