Momentum For Monday, May 27th 2024

“Test me, Lord, and try me; examine my heart and mind.” (Psalm 26:2)

The heart in your chest has four chambers. Each chamber is specified to an area with a function. Spiritually speaking, your heart has the same thing, but it is not just limited to four.

 Everything you care about in your life holds a chamber in your heart. Your dreams can be one chamber. Your fears can be another. Your finances can be another. Whatever you treasure is a chamber (see Luke 12:34).

The hard part in dealing with the heart is that it is a deceitful thing (Jeremiah 17:9). If you grew up in the Walt Disney era like me, you've been told countless time to follow your heart and other stuff like that. I'm sorry to bust your fairytale bubble, but we cannot trust our heart alone. Only God knows what's best for us.

Because of this, it is absolutely imperative that we work deeply alongside the Holy Spirit with every chamber that's within us. Anything we withhold from Him exposes idolatry along with our lack of trust. And any area we lack trust in, we will waver and be unfruitful in. Besides, you can’t hide anything from God anyway, you’re just hiding and lying to yourself in all actuality.

It's time to take inventory. Which areas do you withhold from Him? Why is that? The benefactor of dealing with our hearts is that the more we trust God in every chamber, the more peace we will experience along with learning to deeply trust and know the most trustworthy One we can rely on.    

“And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
