Momentum For Monday, June 20th 2022

“…your ways are not My ways.” (Isaiah 55:8b)

I'm still processing a lot from my recent trip to Haiti. My first visit was in 2004 and it was to visit a husband and wife from my church that decided to teach at an orphanage in Montrois, Haiti. So a group from my church went to encourage them and also bless the kids there.

I've since lost touch with that couple and I'm not sure why God brought them to that orphanage in Haiti, but their lives have indirectly influenced so many others. I wonder if they even know. Because of them, an organization (Mission 1:11) started years later that not only is working in Haiti currently, but the Philippines now also. Their yes to God has impacted so many that it amazes me to think about.

What if they would have said no? Because they could have easily done that. They could have reasoned themselves to stay in the United States. They could have stuck to a good salary and safe living environment and nobody would have blamed them. Could God have managed another way to still bring us to where Mission 1:11 is today and still impact people in three different countries? I'm sure he could, but still, look at the ripple effect their lives have had unintentionally. Just wow.

What about you? Is there something that God is asking of you that is stretching you? Something that absolutely scares you to do? Maybe you should consider how your yes is bigger than you. Maybe God is asking this because he has more in store than you could ever possibly realize.

“Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.”
