“For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, like a two-mouthed sword.” (Hebrews 4:12)

What seems to be a driving force these days is emotions. We go with our gut, follow our hearts, and/or if something feels right we proceed. If that is our mode of operation, then our emotions are our god and we are in idolatry. I understand that it's bluntly stated, but that is the plain truth. Besides, emotions are so fickle that they will lead us into dead ends at every changing whim, since emotions waver like that of the ocean. What is comforting to me when I'm struggling to put my emotions in check, is the word of God.

At the highest point of inflammation, emotions can consume us. The thoughts that run through our minds during those points can actually be some of the biggest lies we take on and believe. Yet, these emotional lies can be the furthest thing from the truth.

Hebrews point blank states something that is illustrated repeatedly in the Bible- Scripture is a powerful, living force. So powerful, it can penetrate the deepest parts of us, including that which lies at seat of our soul- our emotions. It isn't the only the thing the Word of God can completely impact, which makes this Verde even more relevant and rich.

I don't know about you, but I love that when I'm in my feelings deeply and can't shake them, I'm grateful that the Word of God can overcome. In those moments, we have to stick to the Word when everything is us tells us otherwise and that God cannot be trusted. In emotional seasons, keep placing yourself under the authority of His Word and let it do its work in you.

“Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.”

(Psalm 45:3)
