Momentum For Monday, January 15th 2024

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)

The battle for your soul is spiritual. You cannot wage this with a physical mentality. Though Paul gives relatable examples, it's to give us better understanding.

The whole armor of God is not for casual encounters. The Greek word that Paul used to communicate the type of protection needed was referring to what a soldier would wear in the hardest warfare. It covered from head to toe, enabling a person facing a direction to forge forward.

Every bit of the armor must be worn. Every piece has a purpose to help. There’s no doubt that Satan will look for the chink in the armor. Any weakness or flaw, he will try and capitalize upon.

Don’t fret though, there is good news in this war. While we may battle, the source and strength for victory is from God. We still need to place effort, but through Christ we have victory (1 Corinthians 15:57). We have a role and responsibility to play in this battle from what we can see in Paul's instructions. So, put on your armor and stand battle ready, God is sure to help.

“Go ahead and prepare for the conflict, but victory comes from God.”
