Momentum for Monday, July 26 2021

“I want you to especially emphasize these truths, so that those who believe in God will be careful to devote themselves to doing good works. It is always beautiful and profitable for believers to do good works.

(Hebrews 10:24)

A few months into the pandemic, I was really struggling going back into work every Monday after the weekend. Studying for school, working full-time, and not having the ability to do my normal workout as an outlet to stress was beginning to wear on me. My joy was depleting as week after week of quarantine came and went.
I don’t hate my job, and I was fortunate to still have my job when so many had lost theirs, but I just could not shake myself of the stress and I couldn’t seem to find different sources of encouragement to keep me motivated. While walking into work, I mumbled to myself, “I hate Monday’s.” Immediately, I felt a gentle correction from God. A thought came to me, “Why don’t you do something to fix that?”
I know that when I’m stuck in my own misery, the best way to fight forward is to think of others. What could I do while being limited by quarantine that would help others? I love to encourage others and I can write devotionals as I’ve done so many times through the years. So…that’s exactly what I decided to do. Thus Monday Momentum was born. A year later, it’s moved to a blog in hopes to expand to even more ways and ideas to encourage others.
This is the lesson for us (and something I still remind myself of constantly). When I’m fighting through my own discouragement, how can I stop focusing and magnifying my problems, and instead, help others? What strength do I have that can help others in their weakness?
Monday Momentum has become a key to my turn around. I never struggled with that thought after. Monday’s were no longer focused on me, but on preparing something to encourage others. Thank you friends, it’s been such a privilege and honor. Now, let’s keep the momentum going and spread the love…

“These things I have told you are all true. Insist on them so that Christians will be careful to do good deeds all the time, for this is not only right, but it brings results.”

(Titus 3:8)
