“Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].” (Ephesians 6:13)

This instruction is the 2nd time Paul says to put on the full armor. Remember, with Scripture, repetition always means importance. Needless to say, Paul is being emphatic for a reason.

Issues will come. This world is full of them. The spiritual realm is just as real and relevant as the physical (actually, I would go as far to say it's more important). And though the exact understanding of Paul's "day of evil" is not clear, we bank on it knowing that it is not a matter of if, but when.

If you know anything about hand-to-hand combat, standing is an advantage. It gives the ability to attack or flee quickly. Armor is the bonus to help aid in the ability to stand. But one thing we need to also remember is that armor doesn't keep us from feeling the total impact of battle. We'll still feel the impact of force. We'll still grow tired in fighting. But Paul is saying to wear that armor and keep standing.

Some of you have been battling for things for a long time. You’re feeling the impact of spiritual and even physical forces, but you didn't come this far to just quit. Don't tap out now, friends. Lean into the inner strength that the Holy Spirit gives. God will assuredly give victory one way or another. Trust in Him.

“Then Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Take your stand [be firm and confident and undismayed] and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for those Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.”

(Exodus 14:13-14)
