“For Yahweh, the Most High, is awe-inspiring, a great King over all the earth.” (Psalm 47:2)
Ready for a question? When all the crap hits the fan, what do you know? When things seem the bleakest and hope seems lost, who is God to you? Hold that thought.
Someone taught me a valuable lesson my in younger days and I've often taught it to some younger kiddos in critical seasons of their life too. Now, I'd like to pass it along to you.
We will often find ourselves at crossroads or breaking points in life. The weight of decisions can seem overwhelming or the threat of the unknown freaks can freak us out. When we get to that point, we have to remember the King.
I don't know if you've ever played chess or know anything about it but stay with me for a second. The king is the most powerful and important piece on the
board. You lose your king, you lose EVERYTHING. In fact, it's the opponent's job (the enemy of your soul in this case), to threaten you to the point of putting your king in check-mate. If you get to that point, you lose the game.
But of course, life is not a game. When you are corned or backed against the wall, THE King, can never be put in check-mate. There is no one or nothing bigger than Him. Oh and further, in chess, the king always gets the last move. Always.
So let's go back to the beginning question. When it all falls apart, what do you know? Know this- your King has the last move. The last say-so. He is the one who is truly in control when all else seems out of our control. Know where your head's at in those seasons and remind yourself to trust Him to help and guide
you. You keep that perspective and you can never be put in check-mate with fear or insecurity. You lose that perspective though, and you lose everything. So don't forget your King. There's nothing that can threaten your future if you stick to Him.
“So don’t be intimidated by them. God, your God, is among you—majestic God, awesome God.”
(Deuteronomy 7:21)
