“‘God says, “Rebuild the road! Clear away the rocks and stones so my people can return from captivity.”’ (Isaiah 57:14)
We are less than two weeks away from Easter. You ready for this? Is your heart ready? If you said no, you’re in good company. I am not nearly as focused as I’d like to be (especially since it is my favorite holiday).
It is odd if you think of it. Christmas gets so much time and attention. Most people spend weeks preparing for the holiday before it occurs and it seems that Easter just gets the one day, yet it is one of the most relevant and influential holidays that we have as Christians. The resurrection of Christ is the only reason the Church is what it is today. One day just isn’t enough.
Let’s begin now. Let’s make it our intention this week, as often as we can, to remind ourselves of the work and accomplishment of Christ. How he not only died but rose again for our sake. Start pushing out the distractions. Don’t let disruptions deter from what is important. Let Easter be a place in our hearts we start celebrating now and not just one day or weekend.
“And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.”
(Romans 6:8-11)
